Kenya Volleyball Federation League women defending champions KCB will have captain available for selection in a timely boost for the bankers.

The Malkia Strikers vice captain missed the first leg due to injury but is in contention to feature for the Ruaraka-based side in the matches played at the from November 22-24.

The veteran tactician feels Kenyan clubs have slackened for too long and it is time they wake up after FIVB readmitted Africa to the global tournament

The bankers are expected to face rivals and former champions on November 22 before battling Post Bank a day later. They face off DCI on November 24 in the grueling three-day period.

KCB coach Japheh Munala says his charges are pumped up for he fixtures and can’t wait to get onto the court. “We have an entertaining set of matches coming up this weekend and as KCB, we are ready to face everyone. The girls are highly motivated and can’t wait to be back on the court to showcase their skills. Everyone has been working so hard in training, so we can expect a good show.”

The Oilers will be seeking to reclaim the title they last won in 2005.

Right Attacker Pauline Chemutai is a doubt for the fixtures having sustained a knock on her knee during training. 

Libero Lincy Jeruto noted that the Governor Mwalimu Kahiga Volleyball Tournament came in handy as they used the tournament as part of their preparations. 

“Everyone is eager to step on that court to compete. We participated at the Governor Mwalimu Kahiga Volleyball Tournament where we used the tourney to sharpen our claws and tick all our boxes ahead of the league fixtures,” she said.

Meanwhile, teen sensations Marylene Terry and setter Faith Obeko are set to join KCB from Kwanthanze Secondary School to strengthen Munala’s firepower since key setter Esther Mutinda is out for the season.
