Kenya Police’s midfield maestro Kenneth Muguna is taking a cautious approach regarding his team’s chances of playing in the CAF Confederation Cup next season, even as the club stands just 90 minutes away from potentially securing their first piece of silverware.
Police secured their place in the final after defeating AFC Leopards on Monday morning at the Police Sacco Stadium. This victory set up a decisive clash against Bernard Mwalala’s KCB, with the ultimate goal of winning their first-ever trophy and qualifying for continental competition next season.
Muguna, who was named man-of-the-match for his exceptional assist to Tito Okello that secured the win, emphasised the importance of focusing on the immediate task at hand rather than looking too far ahead.
AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda has given reasons why his team turned up to play the remainder of the FKF Cup semi-final against Kenya Police having threatened a boycott.
“We cannot talk about continental assignments for now because we have not played the final, and neither do we know who will stay, who will go, and who will come in the transfer window next season,” Muguna stated.
“We have to take it each game as it comes. One game at a time and then see what will happen.”
