During a post-match interview following Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain, Bukayo Saka expressed his strong belief that this could be the year the Gunners finally end their Premier League title drought.

Captaining the team in Martin Ødegaard’s absence, Saka played a pivotal role in the Champions League win, scoring Arsenal’s second goal and showcasing his leadership on the pitch.

After the match, Saka has some time with Thierry Henry and the CBS Sports team to discuss Arsenal’s performance and their aspirations for the season.

When asked by Henry if he believed it could be Arsenal’s year to lift the Premier League trophy, Saka replied, “I don’t want to put too much pressure on us, but I do think this is the year. We’ve been close the last two years, and yeah, we’re getting closer. But yeah, this hopefully will be the year.”

Saka’s confidence is buoyed by the team’s recent performances, including their unbeaten streak of nine matches across all competitions.

The forward acknowledged the hard work of Arsenal’s attackers in contributing to the team’s success, particularly in maintaining clean sheets. “It’s good that you noticed that. The attackers are doing a lot of work as well for the clean sheets,” he noted.

Manchester City legend Francis Lee, who died of cancer in October 2023, ensured his family will live comfortably before he passed away.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration between forwards and defenders, saying, “We have to do our job to help out the defenders. It’s not easy as an attacking player. I want to be up the pitch and save my legs for the transition. But when I look at the results, it shows that it is working.”

Reflecting on the team’s approach, Saka added, “In most games, we believe we can score in open play or from set-pieces, so as long as we score in most games, we can win.”

Wayne Rooney has sparked concerns about his wellbeing following his appearance at Old Trafford during Manchester United's loss to Tottenham.

His optimism is palpable as Arsenal gears up for their next match against Southampton, a game they are expected to dominate as they have only registered one point this season after their promotion from the Championship.

Mikel Arteta also joined in the praise for his players, highlighting their “very dominant” first-half display against a challenging PSG side.

He reserved special commendation for Kai Havertz, who was awarded man of the match for his intelligent play and crucial contributions.

With Saka leading by example, Arsenal fans have good reason to be hopeful as they chase their first Premier League title in years.
