head coach has lauded his team’s impressive performance following their 2-0 win against at Dandora Stadium on Saturday in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL).
After a challenging start to the season, Matano’s squad showed remarkable improvement in a game that saw them control possession and create numerous opportunities, leading to goals from Baron Ochieng and John Otieno.
The win is a morale booster for the who entered the match with only one win, two draws, and three losses under their belt
However, the cohesive and commanding display they exhibited suggested a turnaround, and Matano believes it’s just the beginning
Sofapaka piled more Misery on Kakamega Homeboyz at the Dandora stadium while Talanta were held to a stalemate by Kariobangi Sharks at the Machakos Stadium.
Speaking after the match, Matano clarified the team’s recent struggles, attributing them to the challenges of assembling a new squad
“To me, we have not started the season poorly because we did not have a team,” said Matano via
“But now we have a team, and we are just starting to perform. We bought 24 new players, and the ones who were here last year, only four remained. So, we didn’t start poorly, we were just bonding. But now we are gelling, and the team is okay, so we can now compete.”
Chaos erupted at Machakos Stadium when Murang'a Seal equalised in the dying minutes of their clash against Gor Mahia which resulted in a 2-2 draw.
The tactician’s remarks highlight the extensive rebuilding efforts Sofapaka has undertaken, as well as the growing chemistry within the squad.
With two wins under their belt, Matano is confident in the team’s competitive potential as they aim to climb up the league standings.
