The encounter will mark the first face-off between Namibia and Kenya since their 2013 match which saw Kenya secure a narrow 1-0 victory.
Reflecting on the past and looking towards the future, Benjamin shared his insights into the tactical approach he anticipates from the Harambee Stars.
«It’s obviously going to be an interesting match because I think both teams are eyeing the chance to gain three points. I also think it will be quite technical; we expect them to play deep and exploit the counter-attack, which they are really capable of,» the gaffer told
Harambee Stars will face the Brave Warriors of Namibia in their 2025 AFCON qualifier in Johannesburg on Tuesday but who are the players likely to give them a hard time?
Adding to his tactical analysis, Benjamin further detailed his expectations for the match, emphasizing the readiness of his team despite recent challenges.
«If they come out with something different, it will still be an interesting match, played on the ground. All in all, both teams are looking forward to this game,» he stated.
This comes after a disappointing 1-0 loss to Cameroon in Namibia’s opening game of the qualifiers, where veteran striker Vincent Aboubakar clinched the game for Cameroon with a 65th-minute goal.
The pressure is on for Namibia as they seek to rebound from their initial setback and ignite their qualifying campaign with hopes of making consecutive AFCON appearances for the first time.
Kenya were wasteful with the few chances they got in a game where they dominated ball possession during their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
The last training session before the match against Kenya was critical, with Benjamin disclosing some minor squad injuries and focusing on passing techniques to activate the players fully.
«The last session was a lot just on passing technique and it’s basically also just to loosen up the muscles and then to get the body activated for better mode,» he explained.
Despite the knocks sustained by some players, Benjamin remains optimistic about his team’s readiness.
«There’s two or three knocks but I’m sure it’s not something to write home about and I think tomorrow 6 o’clock (Tuesday 7pm EAT) we’re going to be ready for that game,» he assured.
Harambee Stars struggled to capitalize on their dominance in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier played at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Kampala.
On the other side, Kenya also comes into this match with determination following a goalless draw against Zimbabwe.
With a strong track record in recent away games Harambee Stars are hopeful yet cautious understanding the slim margin for error in such a high-stakes qualifier.
