Kelly Madada made the final 24-man Harambee Stars squad for the Mapinduzi Cup, which is serving as a platform to help Francis Kimanzi identify the squad for the 2024 CHAN tournament.
“So far, the three games I have played for AFC Leopards have been good on my side, so I thank God for that,” he said
Madada’s performances have been nothing short of remarkable. In just 170 minutes of play, he has registered two assists and scored his maiden goal for the club. His contributions have earned him two Man of the Match awards, cementing his status as one to watch
“I also thank the coach for putting trust in me and my teammates for their support because I couldn’t have done it all by myself,” he added.
“I believe it was God’s time that made things happen because if you look at the previous season, I couldn’t get minutes, but now I’m playing regularly.”
Madada’s form has not gone unnoticed on the national stage. His impressive performances earned him a call-up to the Kenya national football team, where he was included in the final 26-man squad for the Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar.
The experience with the Harambee Stars is expected to further hone his skills as he prepares to make an even bigger impact. Madada is now focused on translating the lessons learned from the national team camp to AFC Leopards’ title charge.
AFC Leopards coach Fred Ambani has given reasons why he feels Ingwe can end their 27-year wait for a league title this season.
Leopards are set to resume their FKF Premier League campaign on Saturday with a clash against FC Talanta at the Dandora Stadium.
The team currently sits sixth on the FKF PL table with 22 points, six behind joint leaders KCB and Tusker, who are separated by goal difference. With Madada’s growing influence, Leopards will be hopeful of closing the gap as they push for league glory.
