Harambee Stars’ hopes of sealing qualification to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations were dealt a huge blow as Cameroon beat them 1-0 in Kampala on Monday afternoon.

The talismanic Olunga led the line for Harmbee Stars as head coach Engin Firat opted to retain the Al-Duhail man who was doubtful before.

The Turkish tactician went back to Byrne Omondi in goal after Patrick Matasi’s howler in the first leg in Younde.

Stars started well with Olunga asking questions of Cameroon’s shotstopper Andre Onana with a beautiful strike but the Manchester United man responded in kind to deny the big man.

Harambee had an amazing opportunity to pull ahead when Olunga found himself with goal in sight but opted to pass to Duke Abuya to combine well with John Avire but the chance was skied.

Abuya was booked in the 25th minute for a high tackle on Zambo Anguissa

Stars kept on piling the pressure with a corner as Olunga get on the end of it for an on target header but it failed to trouble Onana.

Cameroon found their rhythm on the half our mark as Kunde Pierre busrt through the middle of the Harambe Stars backline to test Omondi who paried the shot away.

The cameroonian wss finding match joy yet again as he was played through on goal for a beautiful chance but failed to hit the target much to the Kenyans’ relief.

The Indomitable Lions thought they had pulled ahead when Nouhou Tolo foud the back of the net after a beautiful through ball but it was ruled out to end the half 0-0

Both teams started the second half with changes as Firat opted to bring Alphonce for Daniel Anyembe while Cameroon replaced Pierre with Boris Enow.

Cameroon had another billiant opportunity to score when Ngadeu Michael managed to manouver his way far post and get on the end of a freekick but Omondi was true to his task keeping the visitors at bay.

Harambee responded in kind with rooney Onyango beautifully driblling past his man and letting of a venomous strike on the half-turn that hit the post as Olunga failde to follow up.

The deadlock was finally broken on the half-hour mark when Borris Enow the Subsitute curved a delicious freekick on thee far-post to giv denying Omondi a chance to save and hand the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Firat responded almost immediately with a double substitution of Amos Nondi and Timothy Ouma coming on for John Avire and Duke Abuya respectively.

The Indomitable Lions kept Harambee Stars at bay with the Kenyans desparately loking for an equaliser to get back in the game.

The Kenyans efforts nearly paid off nearing stoppage time Olunga found another chance to test Onana but sent his shot wide as he lost balance and went to ground.
