Defending champions Gor Mahia will be eager to build on their momentum when they take on Kariobangi Sharks at Machakos Stadium this Sunday.

The 21-time FKF Premier League (FKFPL) champions are coming off a dominant 3-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars, a result that has injected new hope into their title defense bid.

Tusker coach Charles Okere has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to challenge for the FKF Premier League title and end the dominance of Gor Mahia.

The win against Ulinzi marked a significant turning point for , who have had a tumultuous start to the season.

Under the guidance of former Brazilian head coach Leonardo Neiva, Gor Mahia struggled to find their rhythm. However, since interim coach Zedekiah «Zico» Otieno took charge, the team has shown signs of improvement yet not fully to the standard the side is used to.

The victory over Ulinzi has helped them close the gap to the top of the table, with KCB and Tusker FC currently tied on 27 points after both teams secured wins on Saturday.

A second consecutive victory on Sunday could see Gor Mahia narrow the points gap even further, reducing it to just three points.

With the league title in their sights, Otieno’s men will be determined to continue their push for glory, but they will have to overcome a determined Kariobangi Sharks side.

Kariobangi Sharks, who sit 11th on the log with 19 points, will be equally eager to make their mark.

Although they are just four points behind Saturday’s opponents and eight points off the top, the Sharks’ recent form has been mixed.

Their most recent outing ended in heartbreak, with a 1-0 loss to Mara Sugar. As they face off against the defending champions, they will be hoping to get back to winning ways and narrow the gap at the summit.

AFC Leopards vs Bandari

Meanwhile, at Dandora Stadium, AFC Leopards will face a challenging test against Bandari FC as they look to get back on track following a frustrating 1-1 draw with Sofapaka.

Edward Ondimo’s late strike in that match denied Leopards all three points after Kelly Madada’s first-half opener put them in front.

The draw saw AFC Leopards fall further behind in the title race, and they now sit in eighth place, eight points behind the leaders.

With the title slipping further out of reach, Leopards will be hoping for a win to narrow the gap, but they will have to overcome a tough opponent in Bandari FC.

Bandari FC have had an excellent start to the season, currently sitting in fourth place with 22 points, just five points behind the leaders.

Gor Mahia interim head coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno has revealed what his charges have to do if they are to bring home their 22nd league title following resounding victory over Ulinzi Stars.

A win for the Coastal side could reduce the gap to just two points, keeping their title ambitions alive. However, after three consecutive draws, Bandari will be desperate for a victory to get their campaign back on track.

Other fixtures on Sunday include FC Talanta’s match against Murang’a Seal at Machakos Stadium, while Ulinzi Stars will face Nairobi City Stars at Dandora Stadium.

With the title race heating up, each match this weekend promises to have significant implications for the teams vying for glory in the FKFPL. As the season progresses, every point counts, and teams will be doing everything they can to secure vital victories.
