Gor Mahia player Ronney Onyango headlines the list of five Gor Mahia players called up to the national team squad despite his situation at club level

The Gor Mahia player has been axed from the squad at club level by Gor head coach Leo Neiva due to a ‘lack of commitment’.

“Rooney (Onyango) missed the game because of lack of commitment, behaviour, and discipline. We are a team and we need to work together for teamwork,” Martins Neiva told at the time when the versatile player was dropped from the squad in the build up to the crucial CAF Champions League fixture against Al-ahly.

“This is an internal issue that we are going to solve,» added Neiva.

Harambee Stars head coach Engin Firat has announced a 28-man provisional squad for crucial AFCON qualifiers against Cameroon.

Onyango has been an integral part of K’Ogalo’s squad and was the hero when they staged a comeback to defeat El Merreikh of South Sudan 5-1 in the return leg of their first round Champions League fixture at Nyayo Stadium on August 25.

Onyango headlines for Gor in the national team with fellow teammates Alphonce Omija, Sylvester Owino, Geoffrey Ochieng’, and Austin Odhiambo.
