The ex-Gunners star was later attacked on social media by fans accusing him of uncomfortable and borderline embarrassing criticism of his fellow Frenchman, and cheap, in the toilet punditry.
Yoro has now responded to the scathing attack but quoting a Bible verse. The teenage defender quoted Philippians 4:6 saying: «Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart.»
The Gunners legend was on Monday Night Football show alongside Jamie Carragher. He lamented at Yoro’s inability to defend adding that Barnes’ goal should never have been scored had the lanky defender been watchful.
«Leny Yoro doesn’t go back to try and defend. The desire was on Newcastle’s side. They’re just not good enough.
«That (Barnes goal) should never happen. Pause on Yoro. I don’t know why… I don’t know what he is looking at? Are you looking at the linesman, trying to see if he is going to bail you out, I don’t know?
«I don’t know if he thought there was an offside. We all know it’s a goal. What are you looking at? I actually don’t know. I’ve never seen that before.»
Leny Yoro is in his first season at Manchester United after trading French Ligue 1 for the Premier League.
He has room for improvement but he needs to be sharp with decision making and quick on the ball if he is to thrive in the Premier League famed as the toughest league in the world.
