Triple world champion Noah Lyles has earned millions from his track races this season despite racing sparingly and ending his season quite early.
Lyles opened his season with an indoor campaign that saw him claim the silver medal at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. From his indoor races, Lyles earned $ 28,000.
Ferdinand Omanyala has given an account of 'discrimination' he faced that could not allow him to gather enough points for the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels.
From the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, the reigning Olympic 100m champion earned $3000 before proceeding to claim the silver medal in Glasgow where he earned $20,000. He was part of the American 4x400m relay team that claimed a silver medal. After winning the silver, Lyles earned $5000.
He then kickstarted his outdoor campaign at the Tom Jones Memorial before winning the 100m at the Bermuda Grand Prix where he earned $1600. The three-time world 200m champion was not done making waves as he proceeded to claim the win at the World Athletics Relays where he earned $10,000.
At the Racers Grand Prix, Lyles finished second and walked away with $1200 before winning the USATF New York City Grand Prix where he earned $5000. After claiming the 100m and 200m titles, the 27-year-old claimed $11,000 for each race.
Before the Paris Olympic Games, the American sprint king proceeded to win the Diamond League Meeting in London and earn $10,000. For winning the 100m Olympic title and the 200m bronze medal at the Paris Olympic Games, Lyles pocketed $50,000. However, Lyles’ prize money breakdown does not include the bonus fees or appearance fees.
Noah Lyles' mother Keisha Cane Bishop has finally honoured a promise she made to reigning Olympic champion Julien Alfred after meeting her at the 2023 NCAA Championships.
He got COVID-19 and could not race in the men’s 4x100m relay, a move that even forced him to end his season unprecedently. Lyles now plans to bounce back stronger next season, with the main focus on defending his titles.
