girlfriend Junelle Bromfield has opened up about how her late mother Sandra was a very important part of her athletics journey and how her loss still puzzles her.
revealed that her late mother was the only person who showed up for her track meets and would always cheer her on but it’s a sad state of affairs since she never got the opportunity to see her achieve her dreams.
The two-time revealed that she grew up in a poor household and saw her mother struggle to ensure they got all the basic needs. One of the reasons why she chose to be a track athlete was not only for her own benefit but also for the benefit of her mother.

“She was the only person who showed up to my track meets and everything like…I feel as if the main reason why I did track was not just for me and not to get myself out of my situation but also to take her out of the situation because she had eight kids. She was a single mother and as I always said, I never knew we were poor until I started living a different life,” Junelle Bromfield said in an interview with Sim Soul Sessions.
“That’s how great she did…I was not missing school because she was that person who wasn’t afraid to ask for help. I got help all my life because of her and then it was the Olympic year and we had big plans and everything and I thought that was my best training year and then in a blink of an eye she was not there.”
Two years before her mother’s death, had lost one of her brothers and she also lost a brother last year. She has yet to master how to deal with that loss but she certainly hopes her mother is proud watching her from above.
She also credited her boyfriend for always holding her hand and being big on therapy, something that has worked out well for her.
