Noah Lyles’ younger brother has opened up about the one valuable lesson the reigning Olympic 100m champion has taught him.

Josephus and have a strong bond and the fact that they are just separated by one year means that they achieved several milestones together.

Josephus admitted that growing up, he was always book smart and was very and then later on, his brother also started running and that’s how they found themselves in the same

Elaine Thompson-Herah has been a victim of injuries and at one point in her career, she felt like there was no need to keep trying.

Being the younger one, Josephus has had to take things easy on his end but from his brother, he has since learnt how to go for everything that works well for him. Spending most of the time with his brother Noah Lyles, Josephus has observed that the triple world champion is never afraid to ask.

In a past interview with NBC Sport, the 26-year-old revealed that Noah Lyles would always ask for things that would work for his advantage either in his career or personal life. From Noah, Josephus has learnt to respect himself and know that he deserves everything good as long as it makes his life easier.

“I feel like Noah is very good at listening to what he needs and making it happen and I think when I watch other athletes and I watch him, one thing that he does that’s really important is that he makes sure that whatever he needs, he’s going to get,” Josephus said.

“I think a lot of athletes will go and be like, they might need something but would not ask for it maybe because they think it’s not reasonable to ask for it. It does not matter to Noah and he’s always like if it will make him better, then he will ask for it and make sure he gets it.

“I feel like that determination and respect for himself is great and it’s almost like someone else has to be the one to tell him no since he won’t do it to himself. Seeing that is somewhat inspiring and I feel like it has allowed me to kind of have the same mentality where it’s like I need to respect myself enough to know what I need.”

Josephus further noted that failing to make it to the 2019 in Doha, Qatar was a huge setback that affected him for long before he decided to find his own path.

Next month, Keely Hodgkinson attempts to break Jolanda Čeplak’s indoor 800m record, evoking comparisons to Jarmila Kratochvílová’s legacy.

Before then, he always wanted to do things just like Noah and when the three-time world 200m champion made the team in 2019 and he failed, it did bother him.

At the trials, Josephus finished eighth in the semifinal of the 400m and failed to make the final. On his part, won the 200m at the trials to secure a slot to the World Championships in Doha, Qatar where he claimed his first individual world title.
