Norway’s will return to the scene of his world indoor 1500m record when he races an indoor mile for the first time at the Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais Trophee EDF in Lievin on February 13.
The 24-year-old ran his world indoor 1500m record of 3:30.60 at the Indoor Tour Gold meeting in 2022 and has gone on to set world records outdoors in the 2000m and 3000m, as well as a world best for two miles. Outdoors, the world and has clocked a European record of 3:43.73 for the mile – a time that places him third on the world all-time list.
The three-time world champion insists that Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce still have plenty more to offer the world.
He is a three-time winner in Lievin, having won the 1500m in 2021 and 2023 as well as in 2022, when he set his world record.
