Kenyans have expressed mixed reactions towards another statue of multiple Olympics champion unveiled in Nakuru on Wednesday.

A Nakuru artist unveiled the statue made in honour of the three-time Olympics 1,500m champion and the piece of art had Kenyans reacting differently.

The statue has dressed in all white and appearing to hold a Kenyan flag akin to a celebration after winning a race at an international event.

Eldoret removed a controversial statue resembling Faith Kipyegon overnight due to public criticism, ahead of its elevation to city status.

It comes one month after another statue was unveiled in Eldoret in August to honour the athlete when the town was awarded a charter that made it Kenya’s latest city.

The statue received a backlash from Kenyans, leading to its removal at night, but the latest one has its supporters and critics.

“This guy should be arrested bana. What is this,” commented a disappointed Kenyan fan.

“That’s no sculptor and that’s not Faith,” said another one.

“If they can’t do it well, why can’t they just stop it? This is nonsense,” was the response given by another disappointed Kenyan.

“Nice work compared with what the new city had crafted,” observed an impressed fan.

Kenyans were not amused by the statue of Faith Kipyegon in Eldoret compared to Eliud Kipchoge's in Oregon before it was removed following the uproar.

“Really tried on the looks, let us just be true here.”

Others made suggestions on where a better statue for the multiple world champion can be made.

“This thing should be done at Kenyatta University. Their fine arts department is exceptionally good,” another Kenyan advised.

Faith Kipyegon has finally reacted to the much-criticised statue which was erected in her honour in Eldoret before being taken down following public uproar.

It is not known where the statue is set to be erected but it seems like it will continue generating debate among Kenyans.

Faith Kipyegon was also not impressed by the Eldoret statue and Kenyans will be keen to know her sentiments over the latest one.

“Don’t even talk about that,” she said during awhen asked about the Eldoret statue. “You know, it is a little bit of fun and at the same time, it is what it is. I can’t comment on that. It is county things, and they will make it better.”

Faith Kipyegon, Mary Moraa, Gabby Thomas, and Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith among other female stars will step on the track at the Icahn Stadium with the hope of making an impact and walk away with the hefty prize purse set aside as they end their seasons.

Faith Kipyegon, who grew up in Keringet, Nakuru county, is considered the greatest 1,500m runner in history following her triple Olympics heroics, three world titles as well as world records over the distance.
