Olympics champion Masai Russell and silver medalist Josh Kerr are in line for a $25,000 bonus if they break a world record at the 2025 Millrose Games.
The 2025 edition will be held on February 8 in New York with Russell and Kerr among the star attractions with the latter hoping that he can renew his rivalry with Jakob Ingebrigtsen.
There will now be more motivation for the runners as besides the prize money, breaking a world record will come with a $25,000 bonus at the highly awaited event.

Also set to light up the event is Olympics 1,500m bronze medalist Georgia Bell, who will face off with Olympics silver medalist Jessica Hull of Australia, once again after their battle at the Paris Olympics.
Josh Kerr has reignited his rivalry with Jakob Ingebrigtsen, critiquing his absence from Michael Johnson’s Grand Slam League.
“A lot has changed in this past year. Being invited to be at such a prestigious event like Millrose, I’m just really appreciative and really excited to step on the start line and race there,” Bell told recently as she looks forward to the race.
Kerr, meanwhile, is looking at the race with anticipation as he feels it will be an opportunity to shake off the early season nerves.
“The first race of the season – the nerves are a bit more just because you don’t really know where you’re at. You’ve done a couple of sessions that indicate [where you’re at] and we know what we’re doing. But I love it,” Kerr told last week.
“I love going out and competing against the best guys. It gets me up and it gets me working everyday. That’s why I signed up for these races so far in advance.
Russell defied the odds to win 100m hurdles at Paris Olympics and has acknowledged the need to improve her time in 2025 with her busy schedule set to start in February,
“Last year we announced the two-mile world record a good two and a half months out. I was like, ‘I’m nowhere near fit enough to run this, but we’re going to do it. We’re going to try.’ So now five weeks out, I can confidently say that we’re going to be ready to go. I love that people are going to be tuning in to watch it,” he added.
Kerr ran 8:00.67 for the two-mile world record last year while Devynne Charlton clocked a then-world record of 7.67s for the 60m hurdles before lowering it to 7.65s with her win at the 2024 World Indoor Championships.
