American sprinter Kenny believes his achievements this season show that he can be one of the greatest sprinters in the world.

ended his season with an Olympics silver medal and Diamond League title, both in 200m, and also recorded some of the best times over the distance.

The 26-year-old has had to overcome injuries in previous seasons and 2024 was kind enough for him to have the whole season unscathed and he showed a glimpse of what he is capable of.

Olympics 200m silver medalist Kenny Bednarek has opened up on what cost him gold at the Paris Games having been upset by Botswana sprinter Letsile Tebogo.

Besides the medals he won, Bednarek recorded his personal best of 19.57 seconds at the Zurich Diamond League in September, the joint eighth fastest of all-time, this coming after he had managed 19.59 seconds at the US Olympics in June.

Those times are giving the sprinter belief that he can go even lower and etch his name in history among the greats in the sport.

“It is kind of like a big weight off my shoulders because in previous years, I was dealing with injuries and that I didn’t hit the times that I knew I was capable of and finally hitting it this year was a sigh of relief,” Bednarek admitted on his hannel.

Olympics 200m silver medalist Kenny Bednarek has shared how his mother's presence helped him heal from missing Olympics gold to Letsile Tebogo despite defeating serial rival Noah Lyles.

“Just because I know I have a lot and I am still learning to be a better athlete. To hit these times shows that I am capable of being that calibre of athlete and if I want to be the greatest to ever do it then it is worth taking it year by year,” he added.

The American has on multiple times expressed his disappointment at not winning Olympics gold, having gotten the better of US rival Noah Lyles only for Botswana’s Letsile to run away with the 200m title.

Bednarek later got his revenge on Tebogo at the Diamond League final in Brussels in September to claim his second title but he feels he is far much better than that, promising to come bigger and better next year.

Kenny Bednarek's girlfriend Sharmila Nicollet has aimed a fresh dig at Noah Lyles, noting that she was extremely excited when her boyfriend silenced the triple world champion at the Olympics.

That means another battle with for the US ticket to the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, Japan where Tebogo and others will be waiting again.
