Reigning Olympic 100m champion has opened up about the struggle of growing up and not being like how society perceived normal girls to look like and act.

The explained that she was always being referred to as being different from the rest and she had to learn to live with that and eventually not let such things affect how she carried herself and how she perceived herself.

pointed out that getting into track and field also saw her lift weights, which saw her gain more muscle on her arms, something that many people still talk about to date. However, that did not stop her from chasing her dreams and she continued putting in the work, knowing that her effort would eventually pay off.

The 2004 Olympic champion has explained why it would be wise for Julien Alfred to skip the 60m indoor races next season.

“That one is a big question for me because growing up not being like how normal girls will look and being referred to as muscular or they tell you things about your body,” said in an interview with Ato Boldon.

“That being referred to as that even when I was little good myself, I would just tell someone to love their body because that’s going to get you like where you want to go,” she added.

She urged any young girls going through the same to know that it is their God-given body and they should embrace it and work towards becoming better in their talents.

explained that if she were to listen to what others had to say and give up, she would not have achieved accolades like being the Olympic champion, world indoor champion and an accomplished .

“If I had just given up and not just want to lift in the gym because I don’t want to be referred to as too muscular or I just don’t want to be referred to as a man, or be told I look like a man, I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am today,” Julien Alfred.

“I would just say to love your body because you have to cherish it because that’s what’s going to get you to where you want to go because and don’t let anybody make you ashamed because of your body and that’s what God has given you so just use it to the best of your ability and love yourself, love your body.”
