Former American Sprinter Justin Gatlin is convinced that American hurdlers sprinter Sedney McLaughin will be in pole position to win the 2024 women’s MVP award.
Gatlin predicts that Levrone has done just enough int this year’s track and field event that is impossible to overlook her to win the prestigious award.
Justin Gatlin is torn on who should be crowned Male Athlete of the Year between Letsile Tebogo and Noah Lyles after their remarkable 2024 season.
“It is hard to not consider Sedney for MVP because of what she has already done and the level that she is doing it at to. It’s a totally different level. It’s almost to a point where it’s hard for you to have 100 percent respect for her because you can’t even fathom how insanely difficult it is what she’s doing,” said Gatlin via his
“She (Levrone) is nearly every time stepping on the track and threatening her own world record that she has broken six to seven time. It’s like she is running away with the event and that’s hard to bet against,” added Gatlin
Two-time Olympic 400m hurdles champion made history as she smashed her own record for the sixth time at the Paris Olympics.
After her triumph at the Olympics, Levrone competed in several invitational races at the Diamond League Final in Brussels winning the women’s 200m.
The former Olympian, however, predicts stiff competition from fellow American Gabby Thomas.
“Gabby stepped to the plate and you can watch her set her campaign for the season like clockwork. We watched at Texas relays run the 200m and 100m. Then we watched her at the world relays run the 4x400m. Going out there and having a really good season and everything she set up fell right into place when it came to the Olympics,” expressed Gatlin.
Gabby Thomas will be among those to headline the field at Athlos, New York in the first all-women track meet of its kind.
