Ruth Chepngetich dominated in Chicago as she claimed victory, clocking 2:09:56 to set the new women’s marathon world record.
Chepngetich started well taking charge of the race early on with Asefa Kebede and Joyciline Jepkosgei right behind her.
As the race progressed Chepngetich started pulling away in the company of the pace makers as Kebede and Jekosgei led the rest of the chasing pack.
On the hour-mark Chepngetich was comfortably ahead in her won company leaving the chasing pack of Jepkosgei and co nowhere to be seen as charged on to claim victory.
