American music icon Snoop Dogg has shared his thoughts on an unforgettable experience as a special correspondent at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Known for his larger-than-life personality, the 52-year-old rapper, real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., has become a fan favorite at the global event, offering enthusiastic support for American athletes across various sports.

Snoop Dogg’s journey with the Olympics started during the Tokyo 2021 Games, where he co-hosted a highlight show with comedian Kevin Hart on NBC’s streaming platform, Peacock. His humorous commentary and vibrant energy quickly went viral, prompting to offer him an even bigger role for Paris 2024.

For the Paris Games, Snoop Dogg was appointed a special correspondent for NBC, a role he has fully embraced. He even played a significant part in the opening ceremony, serving as one of the final torchbearers for the Olympic flame.

Carrying the torch through the streets of Saint-Denis, home to the Stade de France Olympic Stadium, Snoop Dogg marked the beginning of his official Olympic journey.

But his involvement didn’t stop there. From dancing with the U.S. women’s gymnastics team to donning equestrian gear to support American horseback riders, and even trying out judo moves, Snoop Dogg’s infectious enthusiasm has been impossible to miss. His energy has been a key factor in the excitement surrounding the Paris Games, helping NBC achieve impressive viewership numbers.

“We’ve been pleasantly surprised by his popularity, but you never ever underestimate Snoop Dogg,” NBC’s executive producer for the Olympics, Molly Solomon, said. She referred to him as an «ambassador of happiness,» noting how his charisma and excitement have captivated audiences both in Paris and online.

Roles were reversed as music superstar Rihanna gave Irish sprinter Rhasidat Adeleke the surprise of her life when she confirmed to be one of her biggest fans.

Speaking on the podcast, hosted by NFL legends Shannon Sharpe and Chad Thompson, Snoop Dogg reflected on his role at the Olympics. He spoke about the strides he’s made over the years, admitting that as a youngster growing up in Long Island, he never imagined being part of the Olympic atmosphere.

“The Olympics is something that comes around every four years and then, looking at it on TV, you would see the athletes who were the greatest athletes in the world because they represented your country, so to even watch the Olympics was like a feat,” Snoop Dogg shared during the podcast.

“So to be able to go there was never in the equation, so knowing I was gonna have the opportunity, I was going to be the biggest kid there. I was gonna have the most fun. I was gonna do the things that we would do, and we would be given the opportunity to prance around and dance around in Paris but be respectable and be clean whistle so that the brands would know they were dealing with a professional.”

Snoop Dogg also recounted a humorous encounter with a movie star who, in an effort to meet him, used a classic trick to slip past security.

Noah Lyles reflects on his 100m gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics and honors his late high school coach's belief.

“One of the movie stars, it wasn’t Tom Cruise, but one of the movie stars slid up on me. I thought he was trying to get a picture but he was like ‘What’s up Snoop Dogg? What is up with one of them pens’. I was like hold on.. I thought you was trying to get a picture. You spit up on me to get a pen, you got past security with the old pen trick!”

Snoop Dogg’s vibrant personality and enthusiasm have undeniably added a unique flavor to the Paris 2024 Olympics, making him an unforgettable figure at the Games. His presence has not only delighted viewers but also left a lasting impression on athletes and fans alike.
