Triple Olympics champion Gabby Thomas has weighed in on the possibility of running a marathon in future.

In what would be an incredible transition, the sprinter asked fans if they thought she should run a marathon after teaming up with US rugby star Ilona Maher at the New York Marathon.

Thomas had been a Grand Marshall while Maher was confident coach for the runners at Sunday’s marathon won by Kenya’s Sheila Chepkirui and Dutchman Abdi Nageeye.

Gabby Thomas has become the latest addition to Sports Illustrated's star studded roster for the 2025 issue.

After the race, Thomas did a poll, asking her social media followers: «Should @ilonamaher and I run a marathon?»

The poll’s options for answers read: «Heck Yes» or «Stick to your sports.»

When the results came out, 91 percent of fans voted for «Heck Yes.»

Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson-Herah’s latest social media move has left fans wondering if she is about to return to the MVP Track Club given it aligns with coach Stephen Francis’ stance.

Surprised with the overwhelming support for a marathon run, Thomas gave a timeline on when that could possibly happen.

«Yikes @ilonamaher maybe 2028??😭» she posed to Maher, who responded by saying: «That would be terrible but also hilarious.»

Thomas enjoyed a great 2024 season when she won three Olympics gold medals in 200m, 4X100m and 4X400m relays while Maher was part of the US women’s rugby team that claimed bronze at the Paris Games.

Triple Olympic champion Gabby Thomas will be at the New York City Marathon scheduled for Sunday, November 3, seeking to offer support to the participants in the event.

The sprinter will hope to defend her titles at her home Olympics at Los Angeles 2028 and possibly have a crack at the marathon after.
