They say revenge is a dish best served cold and American sprint queen Gabby Thomas delivered just that to a fan who had wished her bad luck at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Thomas became the first female American sprinter to win three Olympics gold medals since Allyson Felix in 2012 when she stormed to the 200m title before being part of the Team USA that clinched gold in both 4x100m and 4x400m relays.
While she was basking in the glory of her Olympics heroics, it has now emerged that it was also a major statement towards a content creator who had written her off way before the Olympics took place.
Gabby Thomas quickly jumped to Noah Lyles' defence after a netizen shared an analysis of the race between the triple world champion and IShowSpeed and claimed that the YouTuber was close to beating the reigning Olympic champion.
“Something about Gabby Thomas just makes me not wanna see her medal at the Olympics. I just can’t put my finger on it!” the content creator, who goes by the name The Erin Brown, posted on X on June 7 this year.
This was even before Team USA to the Olympics was selected with Thomas going on to floor her rivals to claim her ticket in the 200m at the trials before she was included into the relay teams.
Having conquered Paris in August, it has taken Thomas three months to fire back at the hater and she did it in the best way she knows how.
“I meant to come back to this I almost forgot,” Thomas wrote back to the tweet, accompanying her comment with a laugh emoji and others signaling three gold medals.
Her response got fans excited with Alexis Ohanian, founder of the women’s-only Athlos event, among those who were impressed by her clap back.
“Yessssss,” posted Ohanian as another fan said: “Love it. Best post I’ve seen in a while.”
American sprinter Gabby Thomas has shared when she could possibly feature in a marathon after her fans overwhelmingly voted in favour of the move.
“Is she jealous of your talent … your success … your beauty? I’m thinking all of the above,” wondered another fan.
“That brother is a professional hater; he probably couldn’t even beat @ishowspeedsui in a race.”
“Gabby woke up and chose violence,” commented another one.

Thomas clocked 21.83 to win the 200m gold, her first-ever Olympics title, ahead of Julien Alfred (22.08) of St Lucia and American compatriot Brittany Brown (22.20), before teaming up with Melissa Jefferson, Twanisha Terry and Sha’Carri Richardson in the 4x100m relay which they won in a season’s best 41.78.
She completed her hat-trick of gold medals when she joined Shamier Little, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Alexis Holmes to deliver the 4x400m relay gold for Team USA in an American record of 3:15.27.
