Former world marathon record holder is now ready to take on the roads one more time after his unceremonious exit.

In an unexpected move, could not help it and had to stop at around the 30km mark to allow the last athlete, Ser-Od Bat-Ochir to overtake him as he pulled out of the race. That was the first time Kipchoge recorded a ‘did not finish’ in a race.

However, he has put that setback behind him and the five-time Berlin Marathon champion will be competing in a different event, the 10km road race. According to , Eliud Kipchoge will be part of the 10km runners at the Bangkok marathon following an ambassadorial he inked with Thailand.

Eliud Kipchoge was a big omission in the 2024 Out of Stadium Athlete of the Year nominations, as three Kenyan athletes made the list.

Since 2016, has always competed in the marathon and this 10km race will be the first shorter distance he will be running. As he opened about his new deal, the two-time Olympic marathon champion could not hide his joy as he emphasised his stand of making the world a ‘running world.’

“I have travelled frequently to Asia and share the great ambitions of growing athletics as a sport to make people happier and healthier. There is tremendous potential in the world of Asian athletics and I am happy to start working together with Amazing Thailand to promote it in the Asian region,” Eliud Kipchoge said.

“I have always said that I want to make this world a world of runners because a world of runners is a happy world and this partnership contributes to my personal ambitions.”

Meanwhile, at the Olympic Games in Paris, was hoping to become the first man to win three Olympic titles in the marathon but his dream went up in flames. Passing through the 10km mark in the race, it was evident that he had no chance since he started running from behind and was eventually dropped from the leading group.
