The president Thomas Bach has opened up about his plans for retirement as he looks to achieve some of the projects he has before he leaves office.
has promised to work until his last day in the office, noting that he does not want to let things in a poor state but he would rather invest most of his time to ensure he gets the job done for one last time.
Bach is currently on a tour in and upon his visit to Kenya, he also expressed uncertainty about writing a book about his legacy and how he was able to lead such a huge entity in the world. Thomas Bach revealed that he has been thinking about making that bold step but he is not aware of how beneficial it will be to him economically.
National Olympics Committee of Kenya’s coffers will be boosted following confirmation that the International Olympics Committee will increase its grants to the country by 10 percent.
revealed that many people have requested him to consider writing a book and he would certainly inform the masses when he decides.
“What I think would be my legacy…don’t put me in a museum yet, I’m still there for a couple of months and I don’t intend to be a layback in the remaining time. However, there are still some ideas and some projects and I would like to work until the 27th of June in 2025, which will be my last day in the office,” Thomas Bach said.
“I get the question about writing a book many times but I’ve not come to a conclusion. I wish all those people who ask the question would buy the book but I think economically it will not be a world success so I’m still thinking about whether to write such a book and it will take a couple of months to make the decision,” he added.
Meanwhile, Thomas Bach started his tour of the continent on Dakar, Senegal where the Youth Olympic Games are set to take place in 2026. He also urged African countries to bid as hosts to the upcoming Olympic Games.
is set to host the Games in 2028 while , Australia will stage the Games in 2032. He did not disclose the countries that have already bid to host the 2036 edition of the Games but Istanbul in Türkiye, India, Indonesia, Santiago in Chile, Seoul in South Korea, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Germany and UK are considering 2040 bids.
