Olympic 200m bronze medalist Brittany Brown of the USA has beaten a field of elite competitors to secure first place in the 200 meters dash at the Rome Diamond League.
Capturing first place with a commanding time of 22.00 seconds Brown’s performance sent her into the final alongside Daryll Neita, Mujinga Kambundji and Anavia Battle.
Brown outpaced fellow American Anavia Battle who secured second place with a season-best of 22.27 seconds.
Fresh from claiming the women's 3000m steeplechase title at the Paris Olympic Games, Winfred Yavi has extended her winning streak to the Diamond League Meeting in Rome.
In a post-race interview, Anavia Battle shared her excitement and detailed the strategic efforts that led to her second-place finish.
«I feel really great, I am so happy. Me and my coach have been working a lot on the last 120 meters, I also focused on my knee lifting on the last 100 meters,» she said.
Battle also emphasized the mental aspect of her race, stating, «And also to stay focused on my lane. I am not disappointed to peak now and not before because everything happens for a reason. I still have Bellinzona coming and the Diamond League final.»

Great Britain’s Daryll Neita claimed the third position, crossing the finish line at 22.46 seconds. Just behind her, Jessika Gbai from the Ivory Coast showed her prowess with a fourth-place finish at 22.51 seconds.
Switzerland’s Mujinga Kambundji, another favorite, ended in fifth, marking the finish line at 22.53 seconds. Jenna Prandini from the USA took sixth place with a time of 22.67 seconds showcasing the depth of American sprinting talent.
Further down the order Maboundou Kone also from the Ivory Coast took the seventh spot with a time of 22.84 seconds while Britain’s Amy Hunt finished eighth at 23.14 seconds gaining invaluable experience against a world-class field.
