Andrew Alamisi is gearing up for double-delight at the Athletics Kenya (AK) third leg of the cross-country series, set to take place at the historic course in Iten on Saturday, November 2.
The World U20m 5000m champion is eyeing back-to-back victories, having recently clinched first place in the men’s U20 8km race at Kapsokwony Secondary School on October 26.
He topped the podium ahead of Cornelius Kipkosgei in second and Edwin Sanutia in third, marking a significant victory in the series’ second leg.
Alamisi, well aware of the challenge ahead, is confident that the high-level competition he anticipates in Iten will push him to new heights

“Iten being the home of most Kenyan athletes, I am expecting the competition to be really tough compared to Kapsokwony,” he shared via
“Many athletes couldn’t make it to Kapsokwony for the second leg of the series because of the distance, but I expect the field to be crowded in Iten, where many of them are based.”
Reflecting on his recent race in Kapsokwony, Alamisi acknowledged a challenging Achilles heel that nearly cost him victory in front of his home fans.
Since then, he has been working hard to improve his speed and physical fitness, aiming to meet the higher demands of competing in Iten
“I have worked hard to improve on my speed and I also feel that my physical fitness has improved since then. However, I don’t want to get ahead of myself but will wait to see what the competition has to offer on Saturday,” he said.
