Amid his team’s poor scoring run, hopes a young forward can be the solution until the end of the season.

Ambani watched as his team put on yet another toothless display on Wednesday, when they could only manage a goalless draw against Ulinzi Stars, in an FKF Premier League match.

It was the fourth match in the last seven when have played out a goalless draw while they have scored just two goals and they are yet to win over that period, leaving them stuck in seventh position on the table.

What frustrates Ambani is that his team is creating a lot of chances but there is no one to finish them off and this was on full display yet again on Wednesday when they had 10 attempts on goal, four on target, but were not able to convert any of them.

AFC Leopards had a chance to address their lack of goals in the midseason transfer window but failed to and they are now staring at the prospect of another poor season.

missed from an open goal after just eight minutes, when he was well fed by Ovella Ochieng, before the latter had a couple of opportunities, while Christopher Koloti was also guilty of missing from close range.

“We lost so many chances and those are the ones that come to haunt us later. The players need to have calmness as that is something you cannot coach,” Ambani told after the match.

“They just need to be calm and score goals because we are creating loads of chances. It was a good game but we did not take our chances which would have changed the game.”

Who is Ambani counting on goals at Leopards?

With a lack of a clinical striker, having failed to strengthen upfront in the midseason transfer window, coupled with the poor form and eventual departure of Arthur Gitego, added to the, Ambani is left with youngster Koloti as the man to carry the goalscoring burden.

AFC Leopards have received a significant blow after two key players suffered injuries, adding onto their woes, as they seek to end a six-game winless run.

The tactician believes the former Green Commandos striker can be the solution until the end of the season and he is ready to turn him into the player he wants.

“We have to mold Koloti because if you look at how we are, we have been struggling [in attack] but he has brought some resilience upfront and he had a fighting spirit,” Ambani said of the 20-year-old.

“The more he fights with the defenders, the more we get chances. We will groom him slowly and see if we can get a good player from him.”

Koloti, who joined in January 2024, had been on loan at Mathare United in the first half of this season, but returned in the midseason and has had to be patient for his first start, getting it against Ulinzi on Wednesday.

The youngster will now play a leading role in the remaining seven games as look to move higher up the table with Lokale having had surgery that will keep him out for four months.
