“Showing up every single day is always going to be worth it and you should not beat yourself up. Being a working mum, I was not able to be with my son all the time and it was difficult but I don’t want to beat myself up because I want to make a better life for him.

“Being present is what counts and it’s a balance. My son has made me a little bit softer and I’ve learnt that you don’t have to be tough for everything. I also have a village that supports me, I have a nanny who gives me 100% with my son and I’m appreciative of the help. I have learnt to ask for help because I’m not a superwoman.”

The sprint queen further explained that her mother paved the way for her to be great and despite giving her son the best, she also wants him to be hard-working and provide a good life for his children.

“It means the world to me, having that opportunity to give my son the life I never had growing up and creating this new life for him gives him another chance to make for his children. I’m grateful for that because I did all of that standing on my mum’s shoulders and that’s part of my story,” she added.
