has shared his insights concerning the claims made by Tara Davis-Woodhall on Michael Johnson’s Grand Slam Track league.
Michael Johnson, in an interview with , made some comments regarding why he decided to snub field events in his track league scheduled to begin next year in Jamaica, Kingston.
His comments rubbed and Hunter Woodhall the wrong way and they descended on Michael Johnson, requesting him to leave the sport alone and noting that it does not need saving.
A furious Tara Davis-Woodhall and her husband Hunter Woodhall have blasted Michael Johnson over his comments on why he snubbed field events in his Grand Slam Track League.
Following the online battle, simply reacted to a photo shared by Jumpers World saying: “Loll.” He further shared a series of photos on his Instagram and captioned them: “Only God can save us.”
Appearing on BBC Sport, disclosed that he had to choose his battles wisely and according to him, he could only include track events in his league. He revealed that field events take longer times to conclude and would not be ideal for television streaming.
The four-time further noted that the and Olympic Games are better suited to have both track and field events.
“I love this sport. But I have had time to reconcile the fact that if we continue to just do the same thing, tell people that ‘you should love this’ or ‘you should understand this’ – that doesn’t work,” Michael Johnson said.
“Grand Slam Track is track, that is what we’re doing. I am going to save what I think I can save; I think I can save track, I don’t think I can save track and field. Putting the two together works at the Olympics and World Championships, but I’m not sure it works when you’re trying to create a professional sport outside of those global competitions.”
Clapping back at Michael Johnson, , the reigning Olympic long jump champion brutally attacked the American sprint legend, noting that field events have a lot of impact in the sport and alluding that he might have not known that.
The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association has made a huge milestone that comes as great news to top athletes like Shericka Jackson and Kishane Thompson among others.
She added that track and field does not need saving and is ruining everything by selecting only track events into his track league. She pointed out that it was named track and field for a reason.
“About my sport, it does not need saving at all. It’s actually, Michael, you are ruining the sport if you are trying to save just track…it’s track and field for a reason,” Tara Davis-Woodhall said.
“The field events actually do have a lot of impact on the sport and we don’t need your saving and you are long gone, your time has passed and if you wanted to change the sport, you would have done it a long time ago, instead you were skipping out of the sport. The sport does not need you.”
Olympics long jump champion Tara Davis-Woodhall was left gushing over her Paralympics star husband Hunter Woodhall, terming him ‘perfect specimen’ in her latest post.
Hunter Woodhall also backed her up, noting that Michael Johnson should just leave the sport alone since he retired a long time ago.
“Stop coming back and just being so self-important and just saying wild things to just get a rise out of people because no one cares, to be honest, at all and we are doing just fine. I don’t know if you saw the Olympics, they were great,” he said.
