The US sprint legend has added the billionaire to the Board of Directors of the soon-to-be launched lucrative Grand Slam Track, seeking to leverage on his networks to make the event a success.
The four-time Olympic champion observed their unique abilities as he defended why it was hard to predict who would win the 600m race.
“Two guys who always bet on themselves! Both bringing major confidence and swagger. Fred is one of the fastest 400m of all time before switching to 100. 600 may be a bit short for Cole. But this would be 🍿,” Michael Johnson said in a tweet.
It all started when expressed confidence that he would beat Fred Kerley in a 600m race, revealing that competing against the former world 100m champion in a 400m race would be a gamble.
Cole Hocker added that the 500m would also be a gamble since it might take time for him to catch up with . The reigning Olympic champion argued that after the 400m, speed is no longer a necessity and athletes need to implement their strength.
“I think the 600m plays, I think I would win that, I think that’s strength. That’s fair to say but obviously, he would beat me easily in a 400m, so I’m thinking somewhere in the 500m. However, Fred might still have it in the 500m,” Cole Hocker said.
“Maybe I’m giving myself the benefit of the doubt in the 600m even but after the 400m, it turns to strength, like distance strength and he is going to gap me by like 20m and then I’m going to come back.”
Jamaican sprint queen Junelle Bromfield was left in awe after her fiancé Noah Lyles, the Olympics 100m champion, surprised her with a luxurious new house following their engagement.
In reply to Cole Hocker, Fred Kerley said: “Pick the city no cold place. No track either we taking it old school I want the street 🤭.”
